Austin, Texas
A garden blogger’s conference took place last weekend and I took advantage of the chance to go check out Austin and meet some other bloggers. Austin while still clearly a ‘western’ as opposed to ‘east coast’ city is the most pedestrian and bike friendly city I’ve seen down here ( other’n here in The Woodlands ).
The climate is quite a bit colder and drier than here in Houston and well tended, well loved home gardens are far more prevalent. It’s about the size of Providence, RI and has a very similar feel to it. It is small enough to have several active communities of people involved in a way that just isn’t possible in a larger or smaller city.
