Google has announced I am not a human

May 31st, 2007 · No Comments

For decades now we have been trying to design robots to pass a Turing Test to show that they can be passed off as human. But with all the spiders, bots and other creatures crawling the internet proving you are a human has become the more important and common test. A reverse Turing Test of sorts. But what do you do when you flunk the ‘Are you a human test?’

I was not aware I was even being tested. And I’m not sure why I failed? Perhaps it was the query? I was Googling ‘genetic algorithms’. Did Google think I was a bot looking to evolve? Or a spyware looking to upgrade my chromosomes? Have the creatures crawling the net evolved so far?

Or…. Gasp…. Perhaps I am not a human and only think that I am? Perhaps I exist only in the bits of the internet? How would you know?
