Life in the flyover

Who’s visiting you?

without comments

Building a website audience is much easier if you can provide what your audience is looking to find. What search terms bring people to your site?

These services are all free:

Technorati is for blogs. It will tell you how many other blogs are linking to you, and who’s linking to you. It gives you a rank, daily posts and traffic volume reports.

Google webmaster tools tell you when your your blogs or sites have been crawled, the search terms that brought people to your site, your incoming links and Google ranks.

StatCounter gives you the most recent day, month and total visits to your site. It tells you where people came from that led to your site. It also gives you great detail on keywords, searches and visitor data.

If you see people searching and winding up on your site for things you do not cover, add them in so that the next person to find you that way will find what she is looking to find.
