Digital Cameras and photos

March 16th, 2007 · No Comments

Yesterday I picked up a new digital camera. It’s nothing fancy, the old one just started making funny noises. So I spent today learning about the camera and messing with all the settings.

I was having a terrible time last night. Looking through the view finder was making my eyes all buggy. I thought I might have to start shooting using the LED. Turns out if you take pictures through the view finder while wearing your reading glasses it makes your eyes buggy. Old age might not be for the faint of heart, but it is surely not for the dim witted.

I’ve been hearing lots of stories about people being harassed while taking pictures in public. Bert P Krages, an attorney in Oregon put together a very nice flyer of photographer’s rights.

An excellent sight on digital photography is The Digital Photography School Blog I check it daily and I’m learning a lot from there.

To clean up, adjust color and generally have some fun with your photos, you’ll want to download Gimp. Don’t forget the user manual - GUM.

You can store photos online for use in webpages or just to share using Flickr
