We picked up the cutest kitten at the pet store about a year and a half ago.
I took him for the usual round of shots and to be fixed. The vet told me he did not need to be fixed it had been done already. I didn’t believe her. So she brought in another vet who reiterated that the cat was clearly already fixed.
Guess no one told that to the cat. The cat certainly didn’t act like a neutered cat.
So I find a new vet for his 6 month round of shots. I tell the vet the cat needs to be fixed. Vet says no he doesn’t; says right here in the notes the other vet sent over.
“What are those spare parts under his tail?”, I ask the vet. Empty spare parts he tells me, just for show. “Could you explain that to the cat?” I ask.
So a month ago I take the cat in for yearly shots. Cat needs to be fixed still I tell vet. Vet says no he is a vet and can clearly tell cat has been fixed already. ( translation ‘don’t worry your pretty little confused mind honey’ ).
Cat starts behaving more like a tom, marking territory, vanishing for days at a time. Other cats let out howls when they run across him. He comes home last Sunday covered in blood and well, looking like something the cat dragged in.
I call vet, say cat needs to be fixed. I can’t let him out he’ll get killed, I can’t keep him in, he is howling and trashing the joint. Vet says maybe parts didn’t descend that’ll be $800 please.
DH brings cat to vets says $800 too steep. Cat is out of control and if he is really already fixed we can’t deal with him. Please put him to sleep.
An hour or so later vet calls, says miracle happened, cat suddenly really has spare parts. Vet never saw them suddenly ( magically ) appear in a cat before.
Cat is fixed. Still looks like something the cat dragged in but time should fix that. And no more spare parts under the tail.
Now I understand aggie jokes. How else do you explain 3 vets can’t tell a tom cat from a neutered cat?
