History loops

Some times it is just spooky how closely history repeats itself.

The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 was caused by rain swelling the Mississippi. Levees were dynamited at Caernarvon, flooding St. Bernard’s Parish in an attempt to save the rest of New Orleans. 700,000 people were displaced, adding to the great black migration northward. There were 154 refugee camps set up. During the flood boats were sent into New Orleans to rescue white women and children, the rest waited for days. Many African American’s were held at gunpoint and forced into labor to help with flood work.

I’m sure there is no way the White House could’ve foreseen the mess after hurricane Katrina. Hoover was in charge of relief efforts at the time, and this helped bring him into the public’s eye and gain the presidency. ( Gasp… does that mean Brownie will run for president? )
