Life in the flyover

Where’s the juice?

Still lots of North East Houston has no power. I was listening to the local talk radio while putting away groceries and the Federal Gov’t is about as popular as Cardinal Law before they shipped him outta Boston, and this is Bush country.

The cats have made friends with a skunk. They were hanging out again last night. Barney had to have a bath which he was quite adamant about not wanting. I’m told it is not uncommon for cats and skunks to hang out together. I guess the dogs always kept them away from our cats previous to these two.

PM

Ha! One hour rolling blackouts my ass. It was out from 1pm till well after 7pm again today. Entergy says they may continue for several weeks. At least the house stays cool. It only went up a degree an hour despite record heat outside. It’ll be several months before I start making the place more energy efficient. They are saying too that a half a million people may not have water shortly. This storm was no worse than a North Easter. The Houston infrastructure I was impressed with is beginning to look more like Baghdad.
