Well the Open House is later today, I’ve no idea how many people will wander through? So I’m spending yet another day cleaning.
So now that we are getting closer to the right price what else could be keeping buyers out? It is possible that the local full price realtors are discouraging clients from coming here so that they can keep the discount brokers out of business. That sure feels a lot like extortion if true? I don’t know? I do know the Salesman keeps telling me it is not busy but I can see it is. I’ll see if I can’t get a straight answer out of him today.
Hmm… I found the Open House ad in the local paper but I can’t find the ad in the Globe. I am going to be extremely unhappy if the Salesman screwed that up. One wonders how it is possible to constantly screw up the advertising?
I keep getting up and finding things to clean and move an inch this way, two inches that way. It’s only 11 the Open House isn’t till 2. 3 hours to go.
Even though I know Open Houses are just to keep the house out in the public eye I’ll be irrationally disappointed if no offers are tendered.
It is warm and sunny, though snow and rain are predicted this afternoon, I sure hope it holds off till this evening.
12 noon, one of the neighbors comes to peek at the house. They have all watched us rebuild the place over the last 7 years and are curious. He says he loves it, but with his son in college he can’t swing it. Too bad, nice guy.
1:15, 2 house hunters so far, husband is hiding at work, salesman is hiding at a workshop, I’ve no idea what to tell or say to these folks. Just winging it for now. I think one group was serious house buyers, one group seemed to just be sight seers. Ah well maybe they will tell some friend who is house hunting what a great home they saw. Funny they all comment on how large the house is, but I don’t think it is large by modern standards.
The Salesman says the ad is only in the paper version of the Globe, not online. That’s entirely possible. No time now to run out for the paper.
Everyone came at once, then no one. We had one more neighbor, one more sightseer and two serious house hunters. Salesman says they are paying the going rate to showing brokers 2%. So that only leaves price and marketing. The price is going down, marketing ideas are still being hashed out.
I’m wiped, and a busy morning is scheduled for tomorrow.
