I woke up to sound of a snow shovel scraping pavement. More snow!
I was going to head out and get some packing stuff, but I think I’ll let that go another day. I’m not sure what to do with the books we are bringing? If I use boxes we’ll never fit them all in the cars. I’ll have to find something more flexible. They will probably just end up packed in trash bags, better known as Irish luggage up here. ( re-enforcing yet another stereotype )
On a lighter note I received a great tale from Colorado in my mail box this morning…………………….
Me and my crack rock (motorcycle) took a trip to Mt Rushmore this past weekend. It was quite cold. I camped outside in probably zero degree weather (radio said 20, but the other day it was also 20 in Fort Collins, and seemed much warmer). So I’m outside, sitting on my wool army blanket that I used to keep in my truck, and a mat, wearing a coonskin cap, with a real tail (it’s kind of stinky) smoking a cigar and weed. Well, what do I hear but a coyote howling somewhere in front of me. Then I hear one off to my left, and then a third behind me. I hear two more howls a little later from the same directions, but they seemed much closer. “Oh shit! I think I should take off my hat!” I stuffed it into my saddlebags and got out my tire iron which I had brought along in case or zombies. Well, not much later the coyotes showed up, and I fought them off with the tire iron and a rock I had picked up for a friend (the rock was quite difficult to track down later since I had eaten a bunch of mushrooms. Did I mention I was on shrooms?). I’m pretty sure they could smell the tail on the hat. Quite the good time. I only got a little bit of frostbite on my fingers and toes…………………
Which reminded me that we were talking of different cuisines while we were signing the purchase and sales last Saturday. The Salesman was telling us of sweet squirrel meat, tasty raccoon, not good possum, and I forget what he said about armadillo. I don’t think he was pulling my leg? After the squirrels stole all my flower bulbs last year, I’m not sure roasting them with a few root veggies is a bad idea.
