Life in the flyover

Houston here we come

without comments

So we’ve decided that we’re heading to Houston. I’m sure going to hate selling this house. We really like it. I did some looking on line and found a company called DiscountBroker ( name temporarily withheld ). They claim they will sell your house for a flat fee of $4995. That sounds good to me.

I called and met with a sales agent from DiscountBroker (hereafter The Salesman). Seems like a nice guy but he is from down south and hasn’t been up here long. I wonder if he knows how to market a 100 year old home in New England? He says the house is worth $345,000. That is lower than I thought but I haven’t dug up any recent home sales and I figure he must know this stuff? Otherwise how could he stay in business?

He set us up with this cool online home showing scheduler, Ma-Pass. Also we are not selling for a flat fee. It seems they don’t do MLS listings under the flat fee. I don’t know how you could sell a house without an MLS listing? I feel kind of ripped off here, but at 3.5% it is still a good deal and I think you have to sell twice as many homes at that rate to make a living so perhaps it will all work out ok?
