End of one journal and the beginning of a new journal

April 30th, 2007

Garden journals are at least as old as Victorian times. They were some serious gardeners. Gardening is still very popular in New England.

I’m no longer in the Boston area. I’m down in Houston and have a garden journal there ( see link on sidebar ). That journal is a different format than this one. There is so much for me to learn about gardening down there that I’ve been researching and posting specific notes on each plant.

I miss the flower show up there. The ones down here don’t even come close. I guess if you are not cooped up 6 months of the year you are not so desperate for life come spring? I don’t know? But there are so many new cool things I can grow down here it almost makes up for not having a decent flower show.

December garden notes, week 4

December 21st, 2003

The weather is still warm much like the year before last. One of the squirrels has taken to eating outside the kitchen window and watching us while he eats.

December garden notes, week 3

December 14th, 2003

The weather is not too bad. 40ish days and 30ish nights. The birds have been scarce. The hawk must be around a lot. I’ve only seen him weekly or so. At one point he sat on the railing of a neighbor’s deck.

The snow is melting and no more forecast for a couple of weeks so we should see all of the ground next week.
